Grumpy Bert is pleased to present Friends With Benefits, the collaborative efforts of local Brooklyn artists Brandon Sines and Ramiro Davaro-Comas. Combining forces with their lively characters, Sines and Davaro-Comas will create a playground for Frank Ape and Ramiro’s fantastical creatures to stir up trouble. With a total of ten collaborative works, a mural, character cut-outs and a special edition print, viewers will be transported into a world of mischief and wonder. Friends with benefits highlights through illustration Frank and Ramiro escaping from prison, and having an EPIC time in this world by riding double bikes, playing volleyball, stealing massive sandwiches and pranking the neighborhood.

Brandon Sines is a native of Los Angeles, and grew up in Toronto , Canada finding his way to New York City in 2010. The year after he arrived in New York City, Sines accidentally created what would become his most recognizable and iconic character, Frank Ape. Frank is a sensitive sasquatch who mingles with the brightest and boldest in popular culture and can be seen hanging out all over town, from large wall murals to the back of bathroom doors. He has even made it onto the stage of Project Runway. Wherever he is, Frank Ape is a reassuring figure to those who know him.

Ramiro Davaro-Comas was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and has been living as an artist in New York City since 2013. His works reflects his colorful journey and prods its viewers to create their own story line to his images. Davaro-Comas has lived, created work and shown in Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Prague, Miami, Boston, Brooklyn, New York, Buenos Aires and Providence.
