(Photos from the opening night)
Grumpy Bert is super excited to share with you a special exhibition that is "literally" out of this world, a solo exhibition with renowned Astrophotographer Robert Gendler titled, The Universe in Color. On display will be true color portraits of distant galaxies, nebulae, star systems and other wonders of the universe located many thousands or millions of light years away.
The exhibition will feature 22 large pieces, including The Andromeda Galaxy (M31) which was published in the 2008 Guinness Book of World Records as the largest image (in pixel dimensions) of a spiral Galaxy ever taken. Also, the recently released image of the spiral galaxy, M106 will be displayed.
A Brooklyn native, Gendler is a physician in Connecticut. In 2007 he received the "Hubble Prize" at the Advanced Imaging Conference in San Jose California. He has written three books on astrophotography: "A Year in the Life of the Universe" (2006, Voyageur Press), "Capturing the Stars; Astrophotography by the Masters" (2009, Voyageur Press), and most recently "Treasures of the Southern Sky" (2011, Springer), coauthored with David Malin and Lars Christensen.
